Learning to play an instrument helps to develope numeracy, litteracy, social and fine motor skills, teamwork, perserverance, camaraderie, confidence, and a sense of disipline and dress.

The Gold Coast Tweed Pipe Band’s vision is to develop a large pipe band that delivers entertainment to the community whilst providing musical education and satisfaction to its members.

The Band’s strategic plan focuses on four priority pillars being Education, Entertainment, Competition and Governance and when combined with the band’s organisational values of Teamwork, Professionalism, Development, Family and Enjoyment it is envisaged that many exciting opportunities will be realised for not only the band’s membership base but for the wider Gold Coast Community.

LEARN THE BAGPIPES

Beginners, experienced, and all ages are welcome.

If you are a beginner, you will start playing on a practice chanter (similar to a school recorder). On the practice chanter you will learn the rudiments of playing the pipes: the notes and embellishments, and some basic tunes.

After 12 - 18 months or so you gradually progress to the full bagpipes.

If you are interested in joining the Gold Coast Pipe Band as a Bagpiper, please contact the Band for lesson and membership enquiries

LEARN THE SNARE, TENOR OR BASS DRUM

Beginners, experienced, and all ages are welcome.

For beginners, you will begin on a practice pad. Progression to the drum typically takes around six months, depending on you and the amount of practice you put into it.

A practice pad, drums sticks and all tuition materials are provided by the band.

If you are interested in joining the Gold Coast Pipe Band as a Snare, Tenor or Bass Drummer, please contact the Band for lesson and membership enquiries.
